Footloose in Wild Africa
Depart: Johannesburg
Return: Johannesburg

6 Days / 5 Nights

Imagine a walking safari in the world famous and well-documented Kruger National Park with lion, elephant and many more wild animals around you - this is it, no imagination! Our guides meet the stringent requirements of the South African National Parks and senior guides hold the highest guiding qualification possible in South Africa. After an introductory brief on the 'do's & don'ts' of bush walking safaris, the guide will structure the trail taking into account the fitness level of the group and any special requests. Our guides will share their wealth of 'bush culture'- the identification of animals, trees, grasses, insects, birds, the medicinal uses of plants, local folk lore and basic tracking & survival skills. The overnight camps are all luxury fixed tents and this experience is something very, very unique with one night as a "sleep-out" - on elevated wooden platforms! This is the only place in the KNP offering this unique and unusual accommodation - not to be missed.

Day 3
At daybreak we get our wake-up calls and then you set off to the lounge for coffee! After a refreshing cup of coffee, we all set off on our morning trail, where we are introduced to further wonders of the African bush. Nothing is predictable in the bush therefore each safari offers a potentially new experience. Mid-morning, we return for a well deserved brunch. The African sun is at its hottest this time of the day and we relax for a few hours in the comfort of our room or at plunge pool overlooking the plain, which is often host to zebra, buffalo, giraffe, elephant, rhino and lion. The lounge also offers a comprehensive collection of African literature which you can page through, while sipping on your favourite thirst quencher! The afternoon safari activity starts after high tea and comprises of a short drive in the game vehicle to a specific location, after which we leave on foot for our trail. We return to the vehicle to be in time for sunset and the traditional sundowners of southern Africa! We return to the lodge as the day fades away and prepare for dinner.

After hanging our mosquito nets, fly sheets (only if necessary) and preparing our beds, (yes{!} we do encourage the guests to be included in every aspect of this unique interactive experience of the bush) sundowners can be enjoyed on your platform that overlook a waterhole!
