OUTBACK AFRICA ADVENTURE
A 21 DAY AFRICAN ADVENTURE INTO NORTHERN NAMIBIA, THE OKAVANGO DELTA & CHOBE NATIONAL PARK. IN BOTSWANA AND ENDING IN LIVINGSTONE ZAMBIA

INTRODUCTION
Your safari commences in Windhoek - The capital of Namibia. We experience the dunes of Sossousvlei, the holiday Mecca of Swakopmund, and then travel into the Hinterland, the true wilderness of Namibia. Cultural interaction and solitude, as we explore the northern section of this land. We spend a period on the Angolan border before game viewing in the Etosha National Park. Travel east into Botswana's Okavango Delta & Chobe National Park and finally the adventure capital of the World - Victoria Falls.
Day 1
Windhoek
Pick up at the airport in Windhoek. The capital of Namibia. After settling into our guest house, we spend the afternoon exploring this cosmopolitan city, admiring the churches and monuments. Tonight we dine with our guide, and enjoy a safari briefing.

Day 2
Sesriem and Sossusvlei.450 Kms on dirt roads. Travel time approx. 6 hrs.
After breakfast we transverse majestic mountain ranges en route to our first magical destination. We will explore the Sesriem canyon and the highest dunes in the world: the dunes of Sossusvlei. You will have the opportunity to climb one of these ever-changing Namib summits. It is an experience never to be forgotten as we enter a different world, the world of the sands of time. Sunset is spent chasing black shadows across red dunes.

Day 3
Swakopmund- 370Kms on dirt roads. Travel Time approx. 5hrs.
After breakfast, head out towards the cold Atlantic ocean once more. En route we cross the kuwiseb canyon and the Namib-Naukluft park. This area has unique photographic opportunities. Transverse the Namib sand once more and make for the holiday Mecca of Swakopmund. Accommodation is in bungalows or hotels, allowing us to rid ourselves of the Namib sand and be civilized for a couple of days.

Day 4
Swakopmund
Swakopmund has a huge variety of shops, museums, beaches and restaurants. Optional excursions are, for example, a flight over the dunes that we climbed at Sossousvlei. Or chill out at a local sidewalk coffee shop.

Day 5
Spitzkoppe - 140Kms on tar and dirt roads. Travel Time approx. 2hrs.
Granite reminders of a volcanic era, spitzkoppe. We spend the better part of the day exploring many hidden crevasses and caves in search of evidence of San occupation in earlier times. Sunset is spent high up on a rock ledge fascinated by the ever-changing rainbow of colour - red, burnt amber, yellow and orange: the sunset of spitzkoppe. A silent destination.

Day 6
Palmwag - 240Kms on dirt roads. Travel Time approx. 5hrs.
We depart this majestic setting and transverse the desert into Damaraland, moving on to visit the bushman rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, thereafter we cross the mountains into the wilderness to our camp in the Palmwag region. We hope to encounter the rare desert elephants on this day. We spend the late afternoon enjoying an awesome African sunset in an oasis setting.

Day 7
Opuwo - 300Kms on dirt roads. Travel Time approx. 6hrs.
Opuwo and the Himba tribe. Our destination is the capital of this barren land opuwo. En route we are sure to meet up with the nomadic himba, dressed in their ethnical skins and red colouring. Conditions are harsh and we spend the better part of this day enjoying the culture of this forgotten tribe.

Day 8
Epupa Falls - 200 Kms on dirt roads. Travel Time approx. 4hrs.
Epupa falls is our destination today. We travel into the wastelands, northwards towards the Angolan border and the kunene river. En route we will come into contact with many Himba folk. We are sure to trade salt and sugar with them, as their cultural jewellery is awesome.

Day 9
Epupa Falls - 200Kms on bad dirt roads. Travel Time approx. 5hrs.
We spend a peaceful period up on the riverfront, enjoying the birding opportunities and the interaction with the local people. Epupa is a waterfall oasis in an arid region. It is also the lifeblood to the local tribes.

Day 10
Kunene River Lodge
First a really hard journey east to the kunene river lodge awaits us. After the tedious drive we relax tonight next to the river, enjoying sundowners on a deck overlooking the mighty kunene.

Day 11
Etosha -150Kms on dirt roads. Travel Time approx. 4hrs.
The "great white place of dry water". The Etosha national park. After setting up camp, it is out onto the saltpans in search of the elusive game. Photographic opportunities are unmatched. Etosha: an area of stark desolated beauty inhabited by Africa's unique wildlife.

Day 12
Etosha -120Kms of game drives. Travel Time approx. 5hrs.
Up before sunrise for an early morning game drive to wake the animals. The afternoon finds us searching for the animals that have eluded us thus far.

Day 13
Rundu- 400Kms on tar roads. Travel Time approx. 5hrs.
We depart the etosha after a game drive excursion, and make our way north on a long, but interesting journey, showing us the true "African" face of Namibia. We restock provisions for our Okavango delta excursion in rundu on the banks of the kavango river across from Angola tonight.

Day 14
Okavango Delta -350Kms on dirt, tar and 4x4 roads. Travel Time approx. 5hrs.
A new day, first we explore the mohango game reserve in search of the majestic roan and Sable antelope found here. Thereafter we head for a wild country. Botswana. Travel in 4x4 over sandy conditions to the verge of the waterway Spend the afternoon observing the crystal waters of this pristine wilderness.

Day 15
Okavango Delta - Game Walks-3 hrs bush walks.
Today we transfer by motorboat to our Okavango delta swamp island. Today we finally meet Africa wild under the palm or ebony trees. The rich bird life of the Okavango Delta is really great to behold. Spend the heat of the day in the shade of great Jackalberry trees, relaxing and enjoying the solitude of being alone in paradise, days that will never be forgotten. A makoro excursion upstream in search of the shy Sitatunga antelope or secretive Pel`s fishing owl rounds off our experience in paradise. Late afternoon transfer back to our Okavango base camp.

Day 16
Caprivi strip - 400Kms on 4x4, tar & dirt roads. Travel Time approx. 5hrs.
We depart the Okavango River and travel north, to enter Namibia and the Caprivi strip. Camp Kwando is our next destination. The area is a great birding area in which the Paradise Flycatcher and Giant Kingfisher, two of the many rare bird species, are found. A beautiful decadent experience. Dinner in the ethnical camp restaurant tonight.

Day 17
Chobe National Park - 450Kms on tar & dirt roads. Travel Time approx. 6hrs.
We depart the Okavango River and travel north, to enter Namibia and the Caprivi strip. Camp Kwando is our next destination. The area is a great birding area in which the Paradise Flycatcher and Giant Kingfisher, two of the many rare bird species, are found. A beautiful decadent experience. Dinner in the ethnical camp restaurant tonight.

Day 18
Chobe National Park - 3 hrs on game drives.
We spend today on the banks of the Chobe river giving us the chance to explore the reserve in our open land rover and by boat. We conduct a morning game drive into the Chobe National Park, an area that abounds with elephant, buffalo, hippo and many antelope species. We hope to find the puku antelope, an antelope endemic to the chobe floodplains. The park contains a multitude of aquatic bird species and the visitor is sure to observe the majestic fish eagle or the acrobatic bee-eater. In the afternoon we go on a boat cruise into the Chobe National Park. Giving us a chance to get up close and personal with the hippos and crocodiles

Day 19
Livingstone -310Kms on tar roads. Travel Time approx. 3hrs.
A new day, the last country, Victoria falls in Zambia is calling. After the border crossing and a short drive We settle outside the bustling town of Livingstone. Today we will visit the world-famous Victoria falls.

Livingstone
Today is yours to raft, fly, jump, ride or sightsee. The Zambian side of Victoria falls is a recommendation for its curio market and rainforest.
